Bearathon 2011

Here are a few pictures of our Bearathon 2011 event. Remember that you can still contribute by making and bringing bears until 10 June. Every bear will make a difference to a child's life!

9am. Here are the first bears! Angela and Margaret from TTBC are trying their hand at making bears too.

It is a sad fact that thousands of children are victims of abuse in our society. The Teddy Bear Clinic offers treatment and counseling to abused children. When they attended the clinic children receive a soft toy to comfort them on the tough journey to recovery.

Bearathon 2011
Will you help us to ensure that there are enough teddy bears to do this important job?
On Saturday 28th May 2011 we will have a bearathon in Irene Pretoria to make bears for the Teddy Bear Clinic.

YOU CAN HELP IN THE FOLLOWING WAYS:

Join us at the Bearathon on Saturday 28 May in Irene Pretoria, and make a bear. You just need to bring yourself and some basic sewing skills, we will provide all the materials and tools. Get the program and directions HERE

If you are unable to join us on the day, DOWNLOAD the pattern, make a bear or two, and get them to us by 10 June. Our contact details are on the pattern sheet.

Donate bears and other soft toys. If you have clean undamaged soft toys that you don't need anymore, the Teddy Bear Clinic can use them.

Donate sewing items that you don't use anymore. Drop off at Tin Soldiers before 28 May to use at the teddy bear making day: felt, fake fur, stuffing, embroidery thread, buttons, bits of lace, anything that can be used to make fun, colourful, child safe teddy bears.

Spread the word. Get your friends and family involved too.

Our aim is to get together on Saturday 28 May and make hundreds of teddy bears to donate to the clinic. Everyone with a pair of capable hands and an hour to spare is urged to join us in this effort. Download the page with bearathon information and directions to Tin Soldiers HERE.

Ina is our team leader. Contact her on 082 664 5446 or inad@eqos-tech.com with questions about the event, to offer assistance with pre-sewing teddy bears for bearathon, and to offer help on the 28th May. Ina is also the author of the Square Angels blog where she is detailing progress with the bearathon preparations.
Megan is the logistics person. Contact her on 083 305 5954 or soldier@lantic.net with questions about the venue, if you need information emailed, and if you want to get a donation of toys or supplies to Tin Soldiers.
