What will you learn? We will make a teddy from scratch, using traditional materials and techniques. If you work dilligently, the bear will be finished at the end of the day. The aim of this workshop is to teach the basics. You will learn to read a pattern, lay templates out on the fabric and cut them out. We will show you know how to do the tricky bits like stuffing a head, inserting eyes, attaching ears and embroidering a nose. We will joint the bear so that the arms are movable. After this workshop you should be able to work from patterns and kits on your own. And be ready to join the advanced workshops too!

How much does it cost?
The fee for a beginner workshop is R 320.

What is included in the workshop fee? The teddy bear kit, workshop notes, tuition, lunch and teas.

What do you need to bring to class? Yourself, your glasses if you need them for sewing, and lots of enthusiasm. We supply the rest. If you prefer to work with your own tools, you can bring your sewing box, including a pin cushion with pins and needles, small sharp scissors, needle nose pliers, and a stuffing stick or hemostat. Don't worry if you don't have all these items, we will have tools available for you to use in class.

Homework: There is no homework for this workhsop.
